About Marina Alta Foto

Welcome to Marina Alta Foto

My name is David, and I am glad you have found your way to this collection of images.

I moved to the Marina Alta in 2016, and like so many others who arrive here, I was immediately struck by the landscape. However, it wasn't just the coastline that captured my imagination; it was the rugged, interior soul of the region. From my home in Xaló, I found myself surrounded by a terrain that felt deeply alive—a place shaped by centuries of history and the hands of the people who call it home.

The Cultural Landscape

In the Marina Alta, you cannot truly separate nature from culture. My photography focuses on the lived-in landscape—the places where the wild meets the worked.

The dramatic limestone peaks of the Bernia or the Col de Rates are often framed by ancient dry-stone terraces. The sweeping valleys are defined by the rhythmic rows of vineyards and olive groves that have sustained families here for generations.

My work seeks to capture this intersection:

  • Architectural Echoes: The riuraus (traditional raisin drying sheds) and old farmhouses that stand as monuments to the region's agricultural past.

  • The Seasonal Cycle: The fleeting almond blossoms of the Vall de Pop and the sun-scorched earth of the summer harvest.

  • A Fresh Perspective: Moving here in 2016 gave me a fresh eye—an appreciation for the textures and details that might be overlooked in the rush of daily life.

From Obsession to Profession

Photography has been my constant companion since my teenage years. What began as an amateur fascination eventually matured into a professional career with the founding of our sister company, Haya Digital.

Marina Alta Foto is something different. It is my passion project. While Haya Digital handles the commercial and technical side of my work, this site is where I return to the core of why I picked up a camera in the first place: to tell a story. It is the reason I will hike into the mountains before dawn or wait for the perfect, low-slung Mediterranean light to hit a crumbling stone wall.

A Tribute to the Vall de Pop

Living in the heart of the Vall de Pop, I feel a profound connection to this terrain. Through my photography, I aim to document the raw, honest beauty of our surroundings—not just as a view, but as a living history.

Whether you have lived here your whole life, moved here recently, or are simply a lover of fine art photography, I hope these images allow you to see the Alicante mountains in a new light.

Thank you for sharing in this visual journey through the Marina Alta.
